Bandidos MC – History
In 1966, Donald Eugene Chambers set up the BANDIDOS MOTORCYCLE GANG.
This name sounded certainly original in the American biker environment but not in Texas, given the vicinity with Mexico.
Since Texas was part of the United states of Mexico until 1848, the symbol of the Club represented by the Mexican in profile with the sombrero on his head, armed with a machete and revolver that remind his origins, was a natural choice. The symbol of the Club was called "THE FAT MEXICAN". RED and GOLD YELLOW were the COLOURS chosen for the Club, like the Mexican land and the sun. Initially, the FAT MEXICAN had the revolver aiming downwards and the letters MG were placed on the "COLOURS", during the nineties, the FAT MEXICAN was modified as you can see it now and the letters MC indicating MOTORCYCLE CLUB were placed on the "COLOURS". After an expansion in several states of the USA, it was the turn of Australia (1983) till 1989 when the BANDIDOS created the first European chapter at Marseille after three years of prospect with the BROTHERS of Texas. At the beginning of the nineties, it was the turn of Scandinavia. In 1999, a radical scene change occurred in the German biker environment when the “Yellow“ Ghostriders obtained the BANDIDOS COLOURS. In 2000, it was the turn of Canada. In 2001, the opening of the first BANDIDOS MC occurred in Italy at Messina. Originally, this chapter was called LONERS MC ITALY. Today, in Italy, the BANDIDOS MC have seven chapters: Messina, Merano, Florence, Catania, Massa Carrara, Pisa and Salerno. |
